Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Level 14 Begins
Level 14 just started with the blinds going up to 1,500/3,000/400.
Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Don't Mess With Texas
Level 13 - Blinds 1,200/2,400/300
Derrick Huang (Addison, TX) is currently the chip leader in this Day 1C field, sitting on a stack of 430,000. Huang may not be well known on the east coast, but he's definitely a face that one of our local players will remember. Huang finished third in the 2012 WSOP $1,500 NL (Re-Entry) Event 9A, cashing for $347,228. The runner-up in that event was Philadelphia's own Amanda Musumeci, who fell short of her first bracelet.
Huang is no stranger to the Parx poker room though, min cashing in the 2012 WPT Parx Open Poker Classic $1,000 NL Bounty event ($1,188).

Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): No Love For The Ladies
Level 12 - Blinds 800/1,600/200
We've seen a trend over the past few days in these tournaments, and that's the ladies holding strong in these events. Tonight sings a different tune, as only two ladies remain, one of which is Melissa Burr (Brigantine, NJ). Melissa is primarily a high-limit cash game player, but has $30,000 in career tournament earnings ($17,000 of which have come this year).

Big Stax 300 (Day 1C): Level Up
Blinds have just gone up to 800/1,600/200, as Level 11 begins. As we were typing our last post, third place finisher from the Big Stax 300 Jeff Wicker walked in with his entry slip. Wicker actually entered this event about an hour after busting the final table, and built his stack to about 160,000. Shortly before the night was going to end though, he got it in with AK against AA and was sent to the rail.
Big Stax 300 (Day 1C): Final Table No More
Level 10 - Blinds 600/1,200/200
Of the four players to enter this event from the Big Stax 300 final table (Wicker, Bressler, Truong, and Maglaras), only one currently still remains. Kevin Bressler (Wayne, PA) has about 70,000, while the following players have busted without re-entering:
Mohammed Farrah
Matthew Burnitz
Steve Rodriguez

Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Back From Dinner
The 90 remaining players are back from break, playing Level 10 (600/1,200/200). The total number of entries is currently at 421 players. Play will end tonight with 16:26 remaining on the clock in Level 16, and players will bag their chips for Day 2 tomorrow. Players also have the option at that point to buy in the for the 30,000 starting stack and try to run it up tomorrow. We did see a handful of players do that in the Big Stax 300, one of which finished in the top 20.
Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Level Then Dinner
Players will finish this level (Level 9 - Blinds 500/1,000/100), and will then be taking a (75) dinner break.
Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Big Stax

Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Number Climbing
Players are about to go on their second (15) minute break of the day, with the blinds in Level 7 going up to 300/600/100. Jason Rivkin (Eatontown, NJ) has joined the party, as has Kyle Bowker (Walton, NY), who has already chipped up to just under 80,000.
Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Numbers Beat Already
Level 5 - Blinds 200/400/50
We already have 135 entries so far today, which means it is more than likely that today's field will be the largest of the three.

Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Level Up...A Welcome Addition
Mike "Little Man" Sica
Tournament staff just announced the beginning of Level 5, with the blinds increasing to 200/400/50. We'd also like to take a moment to welcome a familiar face we're seeing for the first time in this series. Mike "Little Man" Sica had to leave the Borgata Spring Poker Open for health reasons in April, and we can't express how happy we are to have him back (where he belongs). Sica says he is feeling good, and begins treatment in the next few weeks.
Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Also In The Field...
Level 4 - Blinds 150/300/50
More notable faces continue to file into the clubhouse room:

Players are on their first (15) minute break of the day, and when they return to Level 4 the blinds will be going up to 150/300/50.
Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Another Guarantee Eclipsed
Level 3 - Blinds 100/200/25
Big Stax II is now two for two on hitting guarantees, but not just hitting them on the number. The Big Stax 300 eclipsed the number by over $100,000, while this event is already $30,000 beyond the $150K guarantee.
We see more entries late day on Day 1C, then any other starting day, so we should see the total number of entries soar past 400. It's also a Big Stax 300 Final Table Reunion as Kevin Truong, Kevin Bressler, and Antonios Maglaras are all seated within a table of one another.

Big Stax 500 (Day 1C): Play To Begin Shortly
Players are taking their seats in the clubhouse room, all with the same goal...bag chips to put themselves in contention with the 41 players from Day 1A and 1B. As of right now Ragavan Thiagarajah (Marlton, NJ) leads the way with 898,000 (Day 1A), with Andrew Zhu (South Plainfield, NJ) a distant second 795,500 (Day 1B).
The combined starting days have had 247 entries (Day 1A & B), which means the guarantee will once again be in the rear view mirror shortly after the start of play. Once the action has started and the clubhouse room fills, we will bring you the notable faces in the crowd.

Big Stax 500 (Day 1B): Bagging Chips, Wexler Leads...For A Moment
Jonas Wexler (South Hampton, PA)
Day 1B Chip Leader
Players are playing their final three hands of the night, and bagging their chips. It's still a question though who will be carrying the heaviest bag. Three players were in pre for 22,000 (Jonas Wexler, Eric Rivkin, and Justin Liberto), and went to the flop:
Flop: A♦ 7♦ Q♥
Justin Liberto open shoved and Eric Rivkin tanked for a few moments, before shipping his last 140,000. Jonas Wexler definitely had a decision from his expressions, but decided to make the call as well. The hands were tabled:
Liberto: A♥ 10♦ (pair of aces) Rivkin: A♠ 7♠ (aces up) Wexler: K♦ 9♦ (nut flush draw)
Turn: 8♥
River: J♦
Wexler would spike the diamond on the river, building his stack up to 600,000...and will be the Day 1B chip leader. After the tournament directors verify the numbers we will post the chip counts for the remaining field.
Big Stax 500 (Day 1B): Last Level Of Night
Level 15 is about to end, and players will be posting blinds of 2,500/5,000/500 for the last (45) minutes.
*** UPDATE (In order to stay consistent every night for this event, the clock will be stopped with 26:29 remaining in this level. The floor will then draw for how many hands are left (between 2-6), mirroring last nights action.
