Big Stax 300 (Day 1B): Level Up

Big Stax 300 (Day 1B): Rear View Mirror
Level 11 - Blinds 800/1,600/200
The tournament clock reads 539 entries, which means that we have already eclipsed the $150,000 guarantee posted on this event. The final day of tournaments with multiple starting days will usually carry the largest field, which means we should be seeing the guaranteed crushed. Referencing what was mentioned earlier, a lap of the entire field would only yield two stacks above 225,000 (Kevin Grabel and John Blackle). Both players have just over the 225,000 mark, which is a direct opposite of the trends we were seeing yesterday.
Some players out of the tournament and yet to re-enter:
Amanda Musumeci
Jared Hutt
Matt Glantz (just re-entered)
Norman Michalek

Big Stax 300 (Day 1B): Separation
Level 7 - Blinds 300/600/100
There has been a noticeable difference in today's play compared to yesterday, in which we don't see too many people quickly accumulating chips. The largest stack in the room sits somewhere around 160,000, but there aren't man of those over the century mark. We watched as the top five chip counts sat above the 475,000 mark at the end of day yesterday, and it will be interesting to note where the top players end today.

Level 6 - 250/500/50
Another player to arrive late to this party is Peter Ippolito (East Meadow, NY). Peter is coming off the WSOPC (Harrahs-Chester) at which he won his fourth WSOP ring. Ippolito won the $365 H.O.S.E event, taking home another ring and $8,640. Peter is also one of the many players to cash in this event in February, and is hoping a better than the min-cash he received then.

Big Stax 300 (Day 1B): Early Traction
Level 3 - Blinds 100/200/25
There is nothing wrong with a little good run at the beginning of a tournament, and Ray Ross (Philadelphia, PA) seemed to have some. Ross was tweeted as having 90,000 just a level or two into the tournament (from the 30,000 starting stack). Ross saw some success in this exact event in February, finishing in 15th place for $4,375.

Level 2 has just started, with the blinds going up to 75/150. The room is quickly filling up, as another sizable Day 1 is expected this afternoon.
Big Stax 300 (Day 1B): Early Risers Taking Their Seats
Level 1 - Blinds 50/100
It's early (for poker players), but many familiar faces have already taken their seats in the clubhouse room. Jason Rivkin (Eatontown, NJ) is the defending champ when it comes to this event, taking home $73,161 and the trophy, after beating Bryan Hayes heads up. It was a marathon heads up match, ending just past 9:00am, after 17 hours of play. Rivkin has seemingly taken that momentum from the win and ran with it, making five more final tables in the next two months (and winning the $450 H.O.R.S.E. at the Borgata Spring Open).
Also in the field:
Amanda Musumeci
Larry Kolk
Paul Spitzberg
Joe Reddick
Joe Spillane
Nancy Martin
Brian Lemke

Level 16 - Blinds 2,500/5,000/500
Pofuk Ying (Highland Park, NJ) has a difficult task ahead of him, as he sat down at Table 62 up against the likes of Bowker, Siegal, and Wexler (all with stacks over 250,000). Ying came to the table with just around 120,000, but has navigated his way through the tables and now sits with close to 400,000. Ying has eight lifetime cashes for just under $70,000, but those all came at the Borgata. Ying will look to cash for the first time outside of that casino in a recorded tournament.

Big Stax 300: Room Quieting Down
Level 15 - 2,000/4,000/500
Only six tables now remain in the clubhouse room (with 54 players), and it's pretty tranquil compared to earlier in the day. Conniff still sits as the chip leader among the group with over 420,000. Our earlier chip leader Ross Gottleib has trended slightly downward since coming back from break, but sits very healthy (370,000).
